Trauma happens when something overwhelmed your ability to cope, and your nervous system stays in a state of protection long after the event has passed. Its not about what "should" have been traumatic- Its how your body experience it.
Post Traumatic Stress happens when your nervous system doesn't realize trauma is over, so it keeps reaching as if you're still in danger. It's your body trying to protect you- even when the treat is no longer there. Many people with PTSD are highly resilient. The symptoms are not who you are- they are what your nervous system learned to survive.
Depression is when your mind and body feel weighed down for a long time, making it hard to feel motivated, hopeful, or like yourself. It's not something you choose and it's something that can get better with support. Depression often shows up when someone has been strong for a long time. It's not a failure, it's a signal that support is needed.
Anxiety is when your body acts like there's danger, even when there isn't. It's your brain trying to protect you, but the alarm goes off often. Anxiety shows up in people who are responsible, caring, and aware. It's not who you are, it's how your nervous system, has learned to respond.
